Proposed New Development for Kamloops’ North Shore

Community Invited to Information Sessions for Thompson Landing on Royal

Kamloops, B.C.: ARPA Investments, known for developing successful projects on Kamloops’ North Shore like The Colours on Spirit Square (107 Yew Street) and The Station on Tranquille (300 Tranquille), is looking for City Council to approve a request for a new development set to be built on Kamloops’ North Shore at 209 Royal Avenue.

Named Thompson Landing on Royal, the proposed development is seeking to rezone the current property from single family to multi-family and promises to bring premier multi-unit riverfront development to the area.

“We see this as a unique opportunity to begin activating the potential of the riverfront properties along the Tranquille corridor of the North Shore,” said Joshua Knaak, partner of ARPA Investments. “We believe this project will have tremendous appeal, attracting new residents to the area to work, play, and enjoy all that the North Shore has to offer.”

The North Shore Business Improvement Association’s president Bryce Herman and Board endorse the developer’s vision. Stating in a letter of support for Thompson Landing on Royal, Herman wrote: “While this project is on the fringe of our commercial zones, it will serve as a much-needed link to realize the revitalization and transition of this area of the Shore over the coming years… (adding) significant new capacity to the housing capacity on the Shore, a key requirement of businesses who seek to hire local employees.”

The proposed development’s highlights include:

  • 64 residential units, ranging from studio units to two-bedroom + den suites as well as private rooftop terraces

  • central open-air courtyard overlooking the river, ensuring the unhindered continuity between the built and natural space

  • covered, concrete parking structure with 86 parking stalls

  • electric vehicle charging stations

  • energy efficient construction methodology designed to maximize efficiency and minimize carbon footprint.

As part of ARPA Investment’s key commitments to the community, the company is hosting several information sessions to not only share details of the development but also hear from the community on how to add more value to the collaboration between the community and ARPA Investments.

“We invite the community to engage with us,” said Knaak. “No matter where you live in Kamloops, by hearing the diverse voices of many people at the table, we know we can develop Thompson Landing on Royal to be a great fit for the North Shore and our community in general.”
